PGA Tour star Cameron Young shockingly took three putts from just a foot on the par-3 16th en route to missing the cut at The Masters

Young, 27, was on the cut mark at 2-over par when he boarded the 16th.

But the wheels well and truly came off for the talented American, who had finished T7 and T9 in his last two appearances at famed Augusta National.

Young sprayed his tee shot way right on the par-3 16th and he then chipped up to some 15 feet.

He sent his par putt just past the right side of the cup and then proceeded to miss the short one-footer for bogey.

Young then once again failed from close range and a disastrous triple-bogey six went down on his card.

It had Happy Gilmore vibes about it.

Watch what happened here:

Knowing full well he had now missed the cut no matter what happened on the last two holes, Young went on to finish bogey-bogey on 17 and 18 to card a second-round 79 and miss the cut on 7-over par.

That was five shots outside the eventual cut mark of 2-over par.

Arguably the biggest name to miss the cut at The Masters was five-time major champion Brooks Koepka (5-over).

Koepka inexplicably made a wild quadruple-bogey eight down the 18th to miss out on weekend action at Augusta.

Other big names to miss the cut at The Masters included former champions Dustin Johnson (3-over), Sergio Garcia (4-over) and Adam Scott (5-over).

Young has now played in 15 majors, with his best result a memorable solo second behind Cameron Smith at the 150th Open at St Andrews in 2022.

He is still somehow searching a first PGA Tour title despite having finished second on seven occasions since joining the circuit in 2021.

Keep up to speed with latest scores and updates from The Masters
