LIV Golf superstar Bryson DeChambeau has officially confirmed the breakaway league no longer permits players to wear shorts during competition rounds.

DeChambeau, 31, confirmed the update about no more shorts while appearing on FOX News.

This week's tournament in Miami marks the fifth of the 2025 LIV Golf season.

DeChambeau finds himself in a strong position atop the leaderboard at LIV Golf Miami.

The two-time U.S. Open champion is going in search of his LIV Golf hat-trick having won twice during the 2023 season at Greenbrier and Chicago.

DeChambeau takes a two-shot lead over Sergio Garcia into the final round.

Garcia teamed up by George Bryan to win the inaugural Duels match this weekend. The Duels: Miami was LIV Golf's answer to the PGA Tour's Creator Classic.

But back to the top of the story and DeChambeau has officially confirmed LIV Golf is no longer allowing players to wear shorts in tournaments.

Former LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman had allowed players to wear shorts during competition, solely as a result of competing at venues with soaring hot temperatures like in Singapore, Australia and Saudi Arabia.

Norman made the decision as soon as taking the CEO role in 2022.

It meant LIV became the first professional male Tour to permit players wearing shorts during competition.

But that rule has now been changed by new CEO Scott O'Neil, who took over from Norman as CEO in January 2025.

No more shorts on LIV Golf

While there had been no official confirmation about scrapping shorts from those above at LIV Golf this season, golf fans had been speculating the rule change given none of the competitors have been wearing shorts for the first five events of the 2025 season.

But DeChambeau has now confirmed such suspicions, citing "professionalism" was the biggest reason for LIV Golf reverting back to a trousers / pants policy.

"We actually changed back to pants for tournament rounds," DeChambeau told FOX News.

"It was great [being able to wear shorts] but we want to look a little bit more professional."

Players are still allowed to wear shorts during practice rounds and Pro-Ams should they wish, however.

DeChambeau also confirmed he had dinner with his good friend and U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this week.

LIV Golf Miami is being staged at the President's Trump National Doral.

DeChambeau admitted politics was at the bottom of their agenda during their evening together on Thursday.

"We didn't talk much about politics, we just enjoyed the time together, and we're honestly really grateful he gave us the course to play on, super excited to be around him," said DeChambeau.

DeChambeau holds a two-shot lead heading into the final round of LIV Golf Miami.

The American's solid performance so far this week comes at a great time just days before the start of The Masters.

"I feel like I'm right there," DeChambeau said of his current game ahead of golf's first major of the season.

"I want to see how I do this week on the Blue Monster, this place is a tough test, it's a great prep week for me. I'm excited, I can't wait."

DeChambeau confrimed an equipment switch ahead of LIV Golf Miami.
