Bryson DeChambeau makes big equipment decision before 2025 Masters

Bryson DeChambeau has confirmed that he has finally decided to play the 2025 Pro V1x before heading to Augusta National for the 2025 Masters Tournament.

Bryson DeChambeau appears to have made up his mind over what golf ball to use for the 2025 Masters

The reigning U.S. Open champion had been using the Titleist Pro V1x Left Dash.

But throughout the 2025 campaign so far DeChambeau discovered it was spinning too much with his wedges.

DeChambeau frequently found his approaches from 100 yards and in would constantly 'rip back'.

"I'm looking for a golf ball that launches a lot lower, has controlled spin at a full swing and half swing still has spin," DeChambeau told reporters last month.

Turns out the 2025 Titleist Pro V1x is doing the trick and is likely to be in play for the first men's major of the year next week at Augusta National.

"It seems to be flying the most consistent for me," DeChambeau told reporters after the first round of LIV Golf's fifth event of the 2025 season in Miami at Trump National Doral.

"[It is giving me] a little bit lower flighting, a little bit more control with my half shots. That was a big thing.

"Left Dash is a great golf ball in firm conditions, but when it got soft, it just super spun, and then when I tried to take half shots off of the Left Dash, it would just knuckle so I wouldn't get enough spin.

"So I have a little bit more spin throughout the bag, but on the half shots, I have a little more spin to control the golf ball on those greens a little bit."

DeChambeau continued: "We haven't solved the wet and dry conditions problem, but I'm working hard to figure it out, and there's a couple cool options that are being prototyped, and we'll see where it goes.

"I just like pushing the envelope with innovation a little bit. It excites me."

DeChambeau is clearly a unique case when it comes to equipment and is notoriously difficult to fit.

These days, he is still using his Krank Formula Fire LD driver despite recently unveiling a new driver with LA Golf.

DeChambeau plays the 6˚ model lofted down to 5˚ and has it fitted with an LA Golf Bryson Series wood shaft.

His irons are also anything but standard, with the American currently using a set of 3D-printed, single-length Avoda irons from 5-iron to lob wedge.

DeChambeau uses three custom-made Ping Glide 4.0 wedges and his putter of choice is the Sik Pro C-Series Armlock with a heavy LA Golf shaft and JumboMax JMX Jumboflat 17 grip.
