Dustin Johnson signs Ryder Cup hero to 4Aces GC ahead of 2025 LIV Golf season
Dustin Johnson has snapped up the services of former European Ryder Cup player Thomas Pieters ahead of the 2025 LIV Golf League season.
Dustin Johnson has officially made the first new signing of the 2025 LIV Golf League season by snapping up former European Ryder Cup hero Thomas Pieters to his 4Aces GC from Bubba Watson's RangeGoats GC, per Sports Illustrated's Matt Vincenzi.
Pieters, 32, is now the fifth player currently on Johnson's 4Aces GC.
It is understood Pat Perez is could make way with his contract coming to an end ahead of next season, but nothing is yet confirmed on that front.
Johnson's team currently comprises himself as captain, Pieters, Patrick Reed, Harold Varner III and Perez.
Should Perez stick around on 4Aces GC then they would become the first five-man team on the LIV Golf League.
According to SI's Vincenzi, RangeGoats GC will not be receiving a player in return from the 4Aces.
"The decision to trade Thomas Pieters was not easy," RangeGoats GC general manager Randall Wells told Sports Illustrated's Vincenzi.
"He has been a valuable member of RangeGoats GC since we launched two years ago, but the nature of LIV and team golf requires teams to make tough decisions.
"Like other team sports, we have to take into account a host of factors, including player contracts and the fact we have a limited number of roster spots.
"In this case, we felt the roster flexibility and the possibilities it opens up was best for the RangeGoats."

GolfMagic understands from Golf Lover UK and Pro Golf Critic that six-time PGA Tour winner Tony Finau is in deep conversation to make a move to the RangeGoats ahead of the 2025 season.
This update comes on the same day that Finau withdrew from Tiger Woods' Hero World Challenge in The Bahamas this week.
Bubba Watson is the current RangeGoats GC captain but the two-time Masters champion was relegated from LIV Golf this season.
It is understood Watson, 46, will be invited back for 2025 though.
Sports Illustrated also spoke to 4Aces GC general manager Chris Rosaasen, who told the publication why six-time DP World Tour winner Pieters - who top scored at the 2016 Ryder Cup - was such an attraction for Johnson.
"He’s a solid player with multiple wins in his career,” Rosaasen told SI.
"His Ryder Cup record shows he excels in team golf.
"He’s going to be a great fit for the 4Aces brand both on and off the course."
Former World No.1 and two-time major champion Johnson has since said in a statement: "Happy to have Thomas on the team. He’s a great addition, great player and makes the team stronger. Really excited for next season."
Pieters finished 30th on the LIV Golf League individual standings in 2024.
