Dustin Johnson gives the most DJ-like response ever when pressed on his dip in form

LIV Golf's Dustin Johnson gives typical Dustin Johnson response when asked to talk about the current state of his game ahead of the Saudi International.

Dustin Johnson gave a typical nonchalant response when asked to comment on the state of his game ahead of the Asian Tour's end of season PIF Saudi International.

Johnson, 40, won this tournament when it was hosted on the DP World Tour in both 2019 and 2021.

It's now the Asian Tour's International Series season finale.

Johnson enters this week's event off the back of an indifferent season.

Despite landing his third career LIV Golf title in Las Vegas on 10 February, the former World No.1 has notched just two further top-10 finishes.

Johnson played in all four majors but missed the cut in two of them at The Masters and US Open.

He didn't even contend in the other two majors with a T43 at the US PGA and T31 at The Open.

When pressed by a reporter this week as to how his game currently feels as opposed to when he was in form and winning the Saudi International in 2021, Johnson shrugged his shoulders.

"I feel like the same, but who knows?" said an unbothered Johnson.

Johnson did give a bit more detail when asked by one reporter to summarise his 2024 season as a whole.

"I'd say mediocre at best," replied Johnson, who is hopeful 2025 will prove a much more consistent year for him.

"It wasn't quite up to the standards that I like, but I feel like the game's starting to come round.

"It started to get a little bit better towards the end of the year, but yeah, I'm feeling good going into this season."

Johnson is the captain of 4Aces GC.

He was the first skipper to sign a new player this week ahead of the 2025 LIV Golf League season starting up in February.

Johnson announced the signing of big-hitting Belgian Thomas Pieters from RangeGoats GC.

It is understood RangeGoats GC are targeting PGA Tour star Tony Finau as his replacement.

Bubba Watson is the RangeGoats GC captain as it stands but the two-time Masters champion was relegated from the league at the end of 2024.

It is believed Watson will be invited back for 2025 but nothing has yet been made official.

A number of big-name LIV Golf players are competing in this week's International Series finale.

England's Tyrrell Hatton is the tournament favourite as he continues his drive to earn as many vital Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points as possible.

Joaquin Niemann, Abraham Ancer and Sergio Garcia are other notables in the field.

Garcia last month confirmed he was returning to the DP World Tour in 2025 in a bid to try and make a joint-record 11th appearance in the European Ryder Cup team.

Johnson starts this week as an outside 40/1 shot as a result of his recent dip in form.

As it stands heading into this week's International Series finale, LIV Golf's Peter Uihlein narrowly leads the race ahead of John Catlin.

Uihlein holds just under a 150-point lead over Catlin but all remains up for grabs this weekend.

He hit the front for the first time all season after sealing a second title of the season in Qatar last week.

If Uihlein holds on to win the International Series Rankings then Catlin will miss out on receiving a golden ticket onto LIV Golf next season.

Uihlein is already secure of a place on LIV Golf as he plays on RangeGoats GC.

There is some hope that Catlin could still receive a place on LIV Golf in 2025 though given he performed admirably on the breakaway league when he was given a number of starts as a replacement player.

Catlin will certainly be a player that a number of LIV Golf captains will have their eye on regardless of his finishing position on the International Series.

Another opportunity for Catlin to play his way onto LIV next year will be via an upcoming LIV Promotions event where one spot is up for grabs.

Johnson was asked for his thoughts on who might come out on top in the International Series Rankings but he wasn't quite sure how tight things were at the top.

"Pete won last week, so I'd have to say he's probably playing the best coming into here, coming off a win," said Johnson.

"So obviously he's got a lot of confidence.

"I haven't looked at the points or anything, so I don't know how far ahead he is or how close it is."
