Brooks Koepka with sarcastic response to reporter: "Pretty obvious, isn't it?"
Brooks Koepka was typically unflinching as he assessed another frustrating performance in a major at the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla.
Brooks Koepka has revealed his frustrations after another disappointing performance at a major championship.
Koepka came into the 2024 PGA Championship in good form having recently won a record fourth LIV Golf title in Singapore.
But, much like his appearance at Augusta National in April, had a putter that refused to cooperate and at times it was 'a combination of everything' that went wrong.
A third round of 74 at Valhalla Golf Club left the five-time major champion with simply too much to do going into the final round.
In the end, Xander Schauffele clipped his first major title after Koepka's LIV peer, Bryson DeChambeau, pushed his former Ryder Cup teammate to the wire with another box office performance in a major.
Koepka initially only offered three words when asked to sum up his recent performance at Valhalla Golf Club.
"Not very good," he said. "I think it's pretty obvious, isn't it?"
Koepka added: "I don’t think finishing 30th is progress."
It will be difficult to work out what Koepka we can expect to see when the U.S. Open rolls around next month as there is only one LIV event on the schedule which will be played in Houston over 7-9 June.
The U.S. Open will be played at Pinehurst No.2 a week after LIV's eighth event of the 2024 campaign.
It's likely Koepka will now spend the next few weeks subjecting himself to brutal workouts as punishment for his latest 'poor' performance.
After he failed to break par in every round of the 2024 Masters, Koepka revealed he apologised to his team for not putting in enough effort.
In fact he was told by his trainer Dr. Ara Suppiah that the workouts weren't optional.
Koepka didn't go into detail about what the workouts involve, only that they made him feel sick and turn white.
"I wanted to throw up in a few of them," he said.
