Sky Sports Golf's Wayne Riley and Mark Roe had a tense exchange during third round coverage of the British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at The Belfry.

Their dispute came over the wedge play of current British Masters leader Niklas Norgaard.

On-course commentator Wayne 'Radar' Riley was in full admiration of Norgaard's big-hitting prowess, but he was less convinced about the Dane's wedge game from inside of 100 yards.

Former DP World Tour pro Mark Roe was in complete disagreement with Riley.

Roe was in the commentary box calling the action alongside ex-European Tour pro Richard Boxall and LPGA Tour legend Dame Laura Davies, while Riley was out on the course following Norgaard's every move.

Their difference of opinion came when Norgaard was getting set to play his approach shot into the par-4 10th from 97 yards.

Riley: 'This guy can pump it, he's seriously long. Good player, but this is what I was speaking of earlier in the day when we were on. He looks a little dodgy with the wedge shots. I hope he proves me wrong but he doesn't want to get too cute with this thing because of the slope.'

Boxall: 'Wayne, does he struggle with the yardages or...'

Riley: 'No he seems to de-loft it, his yardages are wrong, his distance control doesn't seem great but you can be excused hitting this 20 feet past.'

Norgaard then plays his wedge shot in to 15 feet behind the hole

Roe: 'He's not doing that, that's excellent, it's about 15 feet...'

Riley: 'Well, I was close Mark, so stop trying to correct me, I wasn't that bad...'

Roe: 'No, no, I don't agree with you. He's a great wedge player for a big fella'.

There was then a brief pause by everyone in the Sky Sports Golf studio as the leaderboard popped up on the screen.

Boxall then cut the tension with: 'Well, this is how it's all looking...'

Sky Sports Golf then went for a break.

When coverage resumed, Norgaard popped in the 15-footer for birdie to extend his lead at the top of the leaderboard.

'Magnificent', said Roe as the birdie putt dropped into the cup.

Davies then added with a chuckle: 'The wedge play set that up...'

Norgaard went on to shoot a stunning round of 8-under 64 in the third round.

He now takes a four-shot lead over South Africa's Thriston Lawrence heading into the final round.

Norgaard is going in search of his maiden DP World Tour title having joined the circuit in 2022.
