LIV Golf star Cameron Smith makes unsurprising DP World Tour announcement
LIV Golf's Cameron Smith has committed to the Australian Open, a co-sanctioned event on the DP World Tour.
Cameron Smith has unsurprisingly confirmed his participation in the ISPS Handa Australian Open at Kingston Heath GC & The Victoria GC in Melbourne from 28 November to 1 December.
Smith's latest announcement means he will be teeing it up in four tournaments in his homeland during LIV Golf's off-season.
The Ripper GC captain recently confirmed he would also be playing in the Queensland PGA (31 October), New South Wales Open (14 November) and BMW Australian PGA (21 November).
Two of the four events hosted by the PGA Tour of Australasia are co-sanctioned on the DP World Tour (Australian PGA, Australian Open).
While they are contested in 2024, they will in fact form the first two tournaments of the DP World Tour's 2025 schedule.

Smith, 31, has won the Australian PGA three times in his career.
He won in back-to-back years in 2017 and 2018 at Royal Pines, before completing his hat-trick at Royal Queensland in 2022.
But he has never won the historic Australian Open, and he intends to very much set the record straight in early December.
"I think most people would know how much I want to win an Australian Open, so I am looking forward to challenging for the Stonehaven Cup again this year in Melbourne," said LIV Golf star Smith.
The Australian Open has been won by a number of the game's greats including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth.
Nicklaus and McIlroy once referred to the Australian Open as the unofficial 'fifth major'.
Smith's participation in the Australian Open also means he will have played in five tournaments in his native Australia this year having also contested LIV Golf Adelaide where he finished T14 in April.
The 2022 Open champion is currently winless in 2024, albeit his Ripper GC did land season team honours on LIV Golf last month.
Marc Leishman, Matt Jones and Lucas Herbert are also on Smith's Ripper GC.

Smith amassed seven top-10 individual finishes on LIV Golf this season including two runner-up finishes in Hong Kong and Singapore.
As a result, he finished seventh in the season-long standings, which was won by Jon Rahm.
Smith had something of a mixed bag in the four majors in 2024, with his highlight being a T6 at The Masters.
But he finished T63 at the US PGA, T32 at the US Open and missed the cut by a wide margin at The Open.
Ripper GC are ranked third in the team standings heading into this week.
