DP World Tour rookie slapped with penalty for slow play (!) in first pro start
DP World Tour rookie Jacob Skov Olesen assessed a one-shot penalty for taking an age to play his approach shot into the par-4 10th.
DP World Tour pro Jacob Skov Olesen was slapped with a costly one-stroke penalty for slow play in his first professional start at the BMW Australian PGA on Thursday.
This week's tournament marks the first event of the 2025 DP World Tour season.
Olesen, 25, took 130 seconds to play his approach shot into the 10th hole.
That is well over the allocated 40 seconds players are allowed to take a shot once it's deemed it's their turn to play.
As a result Olesen was assessed a one-stroke penalty for slow play by DP World Tour officials.
Olesen's initial par was turned into a bogey-five.
The penalty comes just days after a number of players hit out at slow play on the course.
