REVEALED: Ryder Cup tee times, pairings for Saturday foursomes
Luke Donald's Team Europe will take a commanding lead against Team USA going into the second day of the 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy.
Luke Donald's European Ryder Cup team will take a five-point lead heading into the second day of the 2023 contest.
Donald's Europe swept aside Zach Johnson's Team USA in the first session, winning 4-0.
It is the very first time Europe have won all four opening session matches.
Spanish World No.2 Jon Rahm hit the opening tee shot in front of a thunderous home crowd at 7.35am.
He was paired with England's Tyrrell Hatton and the defeated Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns 4&3.
Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg saw off rookie pairing Brian Harman and Max Homa by the same score line.
And Shane Lowry, playing with Austrian rookie Sepp Straka, defeated Collin Morikawa and Rickie Fowler 2&1.
In the anchor match, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood also came through with the same score against Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.
The U.S. side threatened at times to make a comeback in the afternoon but in the end only put up 1.5 points on the board.
Viktor Hovland and Tyrrell Hatton battled back to claim half a point against Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.
Rahm finished eagle-eagle with his own ball to help claim another half a point with Nicolai Hojgaard against Scheffler and Brooks Koepka.
McIlroy and Matthew Fitzpatrick, playing like a man possessed, defeated Morikawa and Schauffele 5&3.
In the third match, Justin Rose and Robert MacIntyre shared a point with Homa and Wyndam Clark.
