Xander Schauffele after 4-0 Ryder Cup whitewash: "Yeah, I'm not worried..."
Schauffele believes Team USA are still very much in the battle for the Ryder Cup.
ROME - Xander Schauffele admits he is "not worried" in the slightest about Team USA being whitewashed 4-0 in the opening foursomes session of the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone.
Luke Donald's Team Europe swept the opening session 4-0 for the first time in their Ryder Cup history.
Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm got an early blue point on the board with a commanding 4&3 victory over Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns.
It was to be a scoreline soon matched as Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg took down Max Homa and Brian Harman.
Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka then won the third match 2&1 against Rickie Fowler and Collin Morikawa.
Schauffele was playing alongside his best pal Patrick Cantlay in the fourth and final match of the opening session.
The American duo were 5-0 in foursomes together prior to Friday.
But despite their best efforts, they could not live with the pace of Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood, who went on to see out a 2&1 victory.
It all added up to a 4-0 opening session loss, their worst ever in the record books.
Speaking to the media after his foursomes loss, Schauffele admits he is not worried about the current scoreline.
