"I might go back to bed" American fans livid with Ryder Cup foursomes coverage
American golf fans are disgusted so far with the broadcast of the Ryder Cup.
American golf fans have been left disgusted by not only Team USA's performance thus far at the Ryder Cup, but also the TV broadcast being aired on USA Network.
The stars and stripes have been battered in the opening Friday Foursomes with a 4-0 whitewash at the hands of Luke Donald's Team Europe.
Zach Johnson's Team USA need 14 points to retain the cup, while Europe need 14.5 to regain it.
The omens don't look particularly good for USA given they have failed to win a Ryder Cup away from home since 1993.
But while the performances of some of America's biggest stars has thus far failed to live up to expectation, so too has the TV broadcast.
NBC Sports and Golf Channel have been getting plenty of heat from American golf fans as they woke up bright and early on Friday morning to tune in to the 2023 Ryder Cup, only to tune in to more commercials than golf shots in the early stages of the foursomes.
The broadcast even missed the introduction and tee shots from the third match of the foursomes where Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka took on Rickie Fowler and Collin Morikawa.
Some golf fans questioned how certain shots even got to where they did as they had not even seen the shot before it.
Others were baffled by the amount of commercial breaks, while some were left trying to find a live stream to Sky Sports Golf.
Here's some of the reaction from golf fans venting their frustration during the Friday Foursomes:
Ryder Cup broadcast showing roughly 25% of total shots is frustrating to say the least. It’s times like this where you grow to truly appreciate how special the Masters app is.
I might go back to bed. There are currently 6 balls on the course and they’re missing about half the shots and completely lost track of the action. It’s that bad. No idea what’s happening or how each team has gotten where they are.
...we just came back from commercial to a scottie putt to win the hole — no idea how we even got there — and then immediately cut to needless overhead shots
Biggest event in golf happens every two years and we are just bombarded with commercials. Gotta be a way to offer a commercial free version that shows every shot that people can pay for.
