Kim shoots staggering -31 on LPGA Tour to win by 9
Records tumble as SY Kim holes 31 birdies and one eagle at Thornberry Creek Classic.
South Korea’s Sei Young Kim broke numerous LPGA Tour records as she finished on -31, 257 strokes, at the Thornberry Creek Classic, nine shots better than the runner-up.
A final round of 65, seven under, saw Kim break her own Tour 72-hole record after rounds of 63, 65 and 64 previously. The previous mark was set at -27, and Kim shared it with Annika Sorenstam.
She holed a staggering 31 birdies and one eagle while the only bad number Kim had all week was a double bogey in her second round. That’s also a record for the number of sub-par holes in a tournament.
Kim, who hit 67 of the 72 greens in regulation, matches Brooke Henderson as the only players to win at least once on the past four seasons.

No matter the golf course, 31 under par is really impressive scoring.

Of the roughly 500 tournaments I've been a part of broadcasting, I've never tired of watching players achieve goals in many different ways. Today wasn't any different, but it was very different. Sei Young Kim made golf look elementary. So impressive.

This is insane what is happening on LPGA. I never thought an 8 shot lead would be so exciting but Sei Young Kim is putting on a clinic. #MyFavGraphic pic.twitter.com/yNAunjwAoK
