It looks like Rory McIlroy is still sulking?! "Not seen this for some time..."
Rory McIlroy is back in PGA Tour action at the Wells Fargo Championship, but it does look like he's still sulking?!
All signs point to Rory McIlroy still being displeased with his forgetful Masters experience.
In case you haven't heard, McIlroy attracted a bit of criticism after he chose to skip one of the PGA Tour's designated events last month.
Because he did so after another miserable Masters - without explanation - it prompted golf fans to suggest he was in a bit of a huff.
You don't exactly have to be a member of Mensa to come to that conclusion, given how long it's been since he last won a major championship.
The decision for McIlroy not to play at the RBC Heritage cost the Ulsterman, 33, millions of dollars from his player impact program bonus.
Some of his peers demanded answers from PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan.
We're sure you're aware that McIlroy and Tiger Woods spearheaded the PGA's response to the LIV Golf League.
McIlroy spoke of the need for the best players to compete together more often.
In an eye-opening exchange in the Netflix documentary Full Swing, the four-time major champion stated some of his peers had 'gone soft'.
He explained how if he was willing play more often in these 'elevated events' then so should others.
Even a knackered Jon Rahm told of how he thought of skipping the RBC Heritage too after his physically and mentally exhausting week at Augusta National.
But he had made a commitment, Rahm said, and didn't want to let down those that had purchased tickets with the expectation of seeing the World No.1
Rahm was also involved in this hilarious exchange with a reporter when he was asked about 'throwing' his second round so he could miss the cut and get some more rest.
As for McIlroy, he is back in action this week at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club.
It's a destination that he loves, having already tasted victory there three times.
He won in Charlotte for the first time as a 21-year-old in 2010. His second victory, in 2015, included posting the course record of 61 and a tournament record of 21-under.
McIlroy completed the hat trick in 2021 after he was convinced by caddie Harry Diamond to take a penalty drop from a dangerous lie on the 72nd hole.
Understandably you would expect the familiar name to be listed for a pre-tournament press conference this week.
But his name is nowhere to be seen for scheduled media duties, prompting golf fans to speculate that McIlroy just doesn't want to talk. Yet.
This was pointed out by @TOURMISS, who wrote: "Interesting and not seen this for some time..."
Of course, we're sure that McIlroy will be tracked down by a scribbler and asked about his decision to skip Harbour Town.
Whether he provides an answer is a different question.
