WATCH: Patrick Mahomes gets INSANELY lucky bounce en route to The Match upset!
Patrick Mahomes has a spectator to thank after Thursday's The Match.
Patrick Mahomes may be a highly-skilled athlete, but a little luck can go a long way for just about anyone.
That's exactly what happened on Thursday evening, as Mahomes took part in the latest iteration of The Match.
The series of televised exhibition events first started back in 2018 with a showdown between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson over $9m, which Mickelson won.
The Match then began to really take off during the pandemic, when few sports had yet returned to action.
The fourth iteration of the event gained plenty of new viewers with a May 2020 exhibition between Woods and NFL legend Peyton Manning, against Mickelson and six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.
Since then, plenty of stars from the professional sports world have taken part in the series.
On Thursday, the latest installment - The Match VIII - saw 2023 Super Bowl champs Mahomes and Travis Kelce square-off against the powerful Golden State Warrior duo of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
Despite being the clear underdogs, Mahomes and Kelce pulled through at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas.
The two Kansas City Chiefs stars defeated the duo - famously known as the Splash Brothers - 3&2 during Thursday's competition.

But they did get a little bit of help along the way.
Late in the round, Mahomes - quite an avid golfer himself - was up on the tee.
However, his ball went well-right, prompting the quarterback to yell "Fore!"
Still, his ball appeared to hit a fan. Fortunately for he and Kelce, it bounced safely onto the green.
"That's ridiculous bro," Thompson can be heard saying behind him. "Who did that for him?"
Mahomes then adds:
Here's a clip of the incredible bounce:
“That person is getting a signed glove.”

Kelce had his own hilarious moment during the round, too.
The Kansas City tight end stuck his shot within a few feet of the hole, which prompted a confident celebration.
"This is how we got here, right here," Kelce says, showing his hands to the camera. "These soft hands baby. Soft hands!"
