Kenya Open Postponed Due to Coronavirus

The Magical Kenya Open is the latest European Tour event to be postponed due to the ongoing outbreak of the coronavirs, joining the Maybank Championship and the Volvo China Open.

Scheduled for March 12-15 at Karen Country Club in Nairobi, the Kenya Open has been postponed until further notice after the Government of Kenya advised that that all meetings and conferences in the country of an international nature should be postponed in an attempt to limit the spread of COVID-19.

In 2019, Italian golfer and GolfMagic blogger Guido Migliozzi captured his first win on the European Tour and was eager to defend his title in search for victory no.3.

Last year, Migliozzi beat Spain's Adri Arnaus by one shot to finish the tournament 16-under par for his maiden title during a rookie year that also saw the Italian win the Belgian Knockout.

European Tour Chief Executive Keith Pelley made a statement regarding the postponement of the tournament.

"We understand and totally respect the decision made by the Government of Kenya in these difficult times.

"We are looking into the possibility of rescheduling the tournament at some point later in the season, but that remains simply a possibility right now - we have no definitive plans at this stage.

"I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Kenyan Government for their unwavering support, alongside Kenya Open Golf Limited Chairman Peter Kanyago and Tournament Director Patrick Obath for their strenuous efforts and commitment. We look forward to returning to Kenya in due course."
