TaylorMade leads BMW club count
Top of the drivers, irons, utility and fairway metal count at the blue riband event at Wentworth.
TaylorMade is already claiming a victory in the BMW Championship at Wentworth this week – the European Tour’s flagship tournament – with still three rounds of the 72-hole event to complete.
The BMW has one of the strongest fields of the year – with 150 players competing and TaylorMade says that according to Sports Marketing Surveys, which checks what’s in the bag of every player, it leads the driver, fairway wood, utility club and iron counts.
Current leader Paul McGinley is one of 72 players using a TaylorMade driver as are many other leading contenders including Paul Broadhurst, Retief Goosen and Graeme McDowell.
Of the 74 rescue clubs in play, TaylorMade has 25 of them, while the brand has almost twice as many sets of irons as its nearest rival.
A spokesman added: "This week two players have already put the new r5 Dual TP driver into play - Ken Ferrie and Rolf Muntz and two players have already put the new r7 fairway metals into play - David Lynn Martin Maritz."
The wide range of Oddysey putters and its new Callaway I-Trax ‘family’ member head the putter count.
