Paul Casey FORCED OUT during final round of LIV Golf London
England's Paul Casey was forced to withdraw during the final round of LIV Golf's event at Centurion Club just outside of London.
Paul Casey was forced to withdraw during the final round of LIV Golf's event at Centurion Club through injury.
Casey had played 10 holes of the third round on Sunday before calling it quits with his tournament score at 4-under.
The Englishman was 4-over par for the holes that he had managed in Hemel Hempstead.
He was playing in the same group as Richard Bland - who was docked a stroke at the last LIV Golf in Spain for playing too slowly - and South Africa's Branden Grace.
Casey's long-time caddie Johnny 'Long Socks' McLaren was back on the bag this week.
McLaren stated last February he had all-but retired after revealing travelling had finally taken its toll on him.
Casey, who is not in the field for the forthcoming 151st Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, has been plagued with injury in recent years.
Mainly, he has suffered with issues with his back. Earlier in the year, Casey withdrew from the PGA Championship at Oak Hill.
Casey aggravated a toe injury wearing a new pair of trainers and was also struggling with a knee problem.
He was extended an invitation to play the major having missed out on the 2022 PGA Championship through injury having previously qualified.
"I feel awful I get an invitation and then can't play," Casey said at the time. Casey also had to withdraw from the 2022 Masters.
"The back issues are persistent and thus preventing me from being able to compete," Casey said of his withdrawal from Augusta National.
Casey joined LIV Golf last July and made his debut in the breakaway at their event at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster.
His fee for joining LIV Golf is not known. Other English golfers such as Ian Poulter are said to have been paid $20-30m to join.
