Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra claimed his maiden professional win at LIV Golf Bangkok with a three-stroke victory over Patrick Reed at Stonehill.

Lopez-Chacarra was ranked the world's second best amateur before he made his decision to join the LIV Golf Tour in June, quite possibly ending any future participation in PGA Tour events.

The 22-year-old Spaniard reportedly was offered a three-year contract worth in the region of £8-15m.

He made his debut at LIV's event in Chicago at Rich Harvest Farms, finishing in T-21 in the 48-man field.

Lopez-Chacarra failed to finish inside the top 20 in the three following LIV events in Boston, Bedminster and Portland but was sensational over three days in Thailand.

He carded rounds of 65, 63 and 69 to take home the huge first prize. The final round was delayed because of severe weather.

England's Richard Bland and Paul Casey finished T-3, along with Sihwan Kim.

Lopez-Chacarra is part of Sergio Garcia's Fireballs GC side, comprising of Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz.

The Fireballs won the team element at 45-under and each player will get a split of the $3m bonus.

Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC (Casey, Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri) finished second on 38-under.

Martin Kaymer's Cleeks GC (Laurie Canter, Bland and Graeme McDowell) finished one stroke further back of DeChambeau's side.

Earlier in the week, Lopez-Chacarra opened up on his decision to join LIV.

He said: "Yeah, it wasn't easy, but I feel this was the best for me and for my future, and what LIV is doing is something unbelievable.

"The PGA Tour University doesn't give you much; it can just give you six events, and then if you don't play good -- one of my best friends Austin Eckroat was playing Monday qualifying all year, and getting the opportunity to play with Sergio[Garcia], one of my heroes, and then Abraham and Carlos for a couple years here and learning with the best players, and I feel the best players in the world are here.

"So I think it's a great thing, and I'm proud of my significance."
