Patrick Reed spectator heckles continue in Hawaii
The Patrick Reed saga continued in Hawaii as a spectator shouted abuse towards Patrick Reed.
The last few months of 2019 were arguably the most controversial months of golf the sport has seen for years. Patrick Reed's incident in a waste area at the Hero World Challenge caused mass debate world wide and put an even bigger target on the American's back. Just when you thought that it was over, it seems some fans aren't willing to let Reed forget about his mistake just yet.
The incident that cost Reed the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas went on to be the most talked about incident in golf of the year and with it happening just a week before the Presidents Cup, we knew Reed was in for a bumpy ride in Melbourne.

Reed certainly didn't help himself when he tried to defend his actions by saying that the camera angle made it look worse and that he didn't mean to do it, something that seemed to infuriate golf fans and professionals around the world.
Many fellow professionals had their say, including Cameron Smith who was playing for the Internationals at the Presidents Cup, which lead to an exchange between the two which reportedly got a little physical. Reed was also the subject to fan abuse and banter throughout the Presidents Cup, some spectators even waving plastic shovels at the American.

At one point, a spectator shouted 'miss' during one of Reed's putt, so Reed responded by celebrating the holed putt with a shovel celebration, which of course, got the crowd riled up even more.
Luckily for Reed, the Presidents Cup was the last event of 2019 and most people went on to enjoy their Christmas with the family and consumed too much food and alcohol to be thinking about Reed over the festive period.
It's now 2020 and you'd think that the whole Reed saga would have been forgotten by now, but it seems that's not the case and once again, Reed was the subject of spectator abuse at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
Playing against Justin Thomas in a playoff to decide the victor of the tournament, Reed stood over a 10-foot putt for birdie, when just as he made contact with the ball, someone from the crowd screamed 'CHEATER!'. Watch the incident for yourself below.

Reed missed the putt and he was clearly annoyed with the so called golf 'fan', a term that needs to be used lightly when it comes to people screaming abuse during a playoff.
The American gave the spectator a stern glare, but what happened to the spectator we don't know, we assume he was removed from the crowd and quite rightly so.
Will the Reed abuse continue throughout the PGA Tour season? Yes he made a mistake and certainly paid the price for it, but the PGA Tour needs to clamp down on crowd control for the remainder of the season.
