Odyssey 2-ball putter - 2001
In the world of putters there have only been a handful of game-changing designs. Yes, the long putter has set a major-winning trend of late, but the revolutionary Odyssey 2-Ball putter - as drawn up by short game and putting legend Dave Pelz - sits top of our list.
Launched in 2001, the 2-Ball aiming system has become one of the most straightforward alignment aids in the game and features a responsive white hot putter insert that has only added to its success.
2-ball putters were initially deemed non-conforming because of the front-to-back width of the putter being longer than the width of the face but in 2002, after licensing the patent from Pelz and going through 34 iterations, Odyssey Golf launched its first conforming 2-ball to the market.
In the 13 years after its launch, Tour pros have used 2-ball designs to win more than 200 events around the world, with the most notable being three-time major champion Padraig Harrington and former ladies World No.1 Annika Sorenstam.
