With Summer golf now a distant memory, it's time to gear up for the wind and rain of the British winter.
Thankfully, PING has everything you need to tackle the elements, including the new Levan Graphene Jacket.
The jacket is water-resistant and constructed with a Graphene honeycomb fleece lining, specifically designed to retain heat and keep you nice and cosy out on the course.
To test out how the jacket performs, I took it out for a round at Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate.
Let's get into it.
This jacket is an interesting one because it fits into a space that lies between a fully waterproof jacket and one that's designed purely for warmth.
Lightweight, breathable and easy to pack away, the Levan Graphene is perfectly suited to days when you want added protection but don't need to dress in preparation for a torrential downpour.
The outer layer is water resistant, so if you do get confronted by a brief shower, you will be able to hold out for at least a couple of holes.
In terms of styling, PING offers this jacket in two colours, a straight forward black number and the one we tested which is a light grey/blue the brand calls 'Airforce'.
The colour itself is lovely, and can easily be paired with any number of other colours, including, black, navy or even white if you fancy risking it during a winter round.
If you look closely, the graphene patches that line the jacket, also give the external panels a slightly honeycomb texture, which personally I love.
Any additional detailing like that really elevates a jacket, and the honeycomb pattern is one of my favourites.
The fit is quite athletic, and standing 6'1 the medium I wore was a little tight, so I would recommend sizing up in order to give yourself room to wear layers underneath.
The jacket also offers a good amount of adjustability, with velcro cuff tabs and an adjustable shock cord hem.
Performance-wise the jacket certainly delivers excellent warmth and comfort. The internal graphene honeycomb structure does an excellent job of trapping in heat and thanks to the breathable nature of the external layer, you don't get too sweaty in the process, which is key.
The two front pockets on the front of the jacket are also lined with a brushed material, which not only feels fantastic but also gives that added layer of protection to any valuables you may be carrying.
While I did have issues with the sizing of our jacket, I can't argue with the level of comfort it provides. We had material bunching under the arms and across the shoulders but that was purely because we needed to go a size up to free up some space.
Verdict
All in all the Levan is a very solid jacket. If I'm honest if I was going to spend £180 on a jacket I would probably opt for a fully waterproof option, as having both seems a bit like overkill, however if you like having multiple options for winter golf, then the Levan does a fantastic job of retaining heat without being overly bulky, unlike other options on the market in 2024.
