As the clouds draw in and the temperature drops, the winter wardrobe becomes a key part of any round of golf. Thankfully, FootJoy has just released its Autumn Winter Collection, which is jam-packed full of quality pieces designed for premium performance.

In this article, we will take a closer look at the versatile ThermoSeries Hybrid Jacket, which can be worn as a cosy mid-layer or a suitable outer garment.

The ThermoSeries Hybrid Jacket has been designed to provide outstanding warmth and comfort on the course, and we tested it on a particularly cold and dreary day to see how it would perform.

Let's get into it.

Starting with looks, the ThermoSeries Hybrid jacket comes in three different colours, and we tested it in the black colourway. The jacket features a split design, with black panels on the chest and a dark grey body and arms.

The stealthy colour palette looks great with almost everything and thanks to the split colour construction it also provides slightly more shelf appeal than a block colour design.

The grey panels also feature a slightly textured pattern that's visible up close and again add to the overall visual appeal of the jacket.

The chest region also benefits from a quilted design which adds that extra level of quality to the overall design.

The fit of the jacket is spacious. I'm about 6 foot 1 and wore a size large, and it was just right in terms of length and width. There is plenty of room for a couple of layers underneath, and it's slim enough to also wear underneath a waterproof jacket with no issues at all.

In terms of storage, the jacket features three pockets, one on the chest and two on the front. While the chest pocket didn't see much use during testing, the two on the front came in very handy indeed.

All three come with zippers, so can be used to store valuables, but the two on the front are also fleece lined, which is an excellent added touch, as they quickly became the perfect place to store your hands to keep them warm and cosy between shots.

The fabric is stretchy, and it affords plenty of room to swing freely unimpeded.

The inside of the jacket is also fleece lined, which means it not only feels great against your skin, but also does a fantastic job of locking in heat.

As I mentioned earlier, we tested this jacket on a really cold day, but all i needed underneath the jacket was a polo shirt to stay nice and toasty.

This jacket is incredibly warm, perhaps the warmest hybrid mid layer i've tested so far this year. That level of warmth not only frees you up to keep layering to a minimum, but it also allows you to swing naturally without any annoying bunching or feeling like your arms are restricted in any way.

Verdict

If you love your winter golf, and want a versatile jacket that can be worn with or without extra layers, then the ThermoSeries jacket is a must have in 2024.

It's stylish, comfortable and incredibly warm, delivering everything you could ever want for golf in a colder climate.

Coming in at £139.99, this jacket isn't cheap, but trust us you will get some serous use out of it, and it will undoubtedly make the winter months more bearable.
