US PGA: Here's how much Justin Thomas and others won at the PGA Championship

Justin Thomas collected a whopping $2.7 million after landing his second major championship at the US PGA Championship at Southern Hills.

Thomas, who moves to fifth in the Official World Golf Rankings after sealing his 15th career win on the PGA Tour, edged Will Zalatoris in a 3-hole aggregate playoff in Tulsa.

The win marked the joint highest final-round comeback from any player in PGA history with Thomas starting the round seven shots back.

Thomas carded a brilliant 3-under 67 to haul himself back into contention, and after Mito Pereira double-bogeyed the 72nd hole, it meant the American joined his compatriot Zalatoris for extra holes after finishing on the magic 5-under mark.

In the playoff, Thomas and Zalatoris both birdied the first extra hole, the par-5 13th, before Thomas made the decisive move with a two-putt birdie on the short par-4 17th as Zalatoris failed to convert a seven-footer up the hill.

Thomas would then go on to make par down the final extra hole, the par-4 18th, to seal a second career major title, having previously won the PGA Championsip at Quail Hollow in 2017.

Zalatoris is still looking to win his first title on Tour but he has now finished in the top 10 five times in just eight major starts. He takes home a career-high pay cheque of $1.6 million and progresses nicely up to 14th from 30th in the OWGR.

Pereira, who will no doubt be disappointed to have thrown the tournament away down the 72nd hole, can a least take consolation from bumping 51 places up the OWGR to 49th, along with a career-high pay cheque of $870,000.

The Chilean, like Zalatoris, is also looking to win his first title on Tour.

Rory McIlroy will be another player leaving Tulsa thinking what might have been as the four-time major champion finished three shots back on 2-under par.

McIlroy won just shy of half a million dollars for his week's efforts.
