Scottie Scheffler confirms shock caddie update ahead of US PGA
Scottie Scheffler reveals his regular caddie Ted Scott will be forced to miss one of the rounds at this week's US PGA Championship at Valhalla.
Scottie Scheffler has confirmed his regular caddie Ted Scott will be forced to skip the third round of the US PGA this Saturday due to personal commitments.
Scheffler, 27, is making his first start on Tour having taken the past three weeks off to be with his wife Meredith as the couple celebrated the birth of their first child, baby boy Bennett.
The runaway World No.1, who is looking to win a second straight major and a fifth PGA Tour title in his last six starts, was seen cracking Dad jokes earlier in the day.
Scheffler admits becoming a father has been a surreal moment, but one he and wife Meredith have cherished for the past week.
He also confirmed his game remains in good order despite his mini break from competition.
After fielding a number of questions about fatherhood, Scheffler then made something of a shock update where his caddie Scott was concerned, at least should he make the cut.
While Scheffler already knew well in advance that Scott would be forced to skip the third round of the 2024 US PGA, the update came as a surprise to the rest of the media.

Scott, who has caddied for all 10 of Scheffler's PGA Tour victories, will be unable to caddie for Scheffler this Saturday as a result of needing to attend his daughter's high school graduation.
He will, however, still caddie for Scheffler over the first two rounds, and he will also return for the final round.
Who is caddying for Scottie Scheffler in the Third Round of the US PGA Championship?
Scottie Scheffler's normal caddie Ted Scott will be replaced on the bag for the third round of the US PGA Championship by Scheffler's good friend and former college golf teammate Brad Payne.
Payne has previously caddied for former PGA Tour player Paul Stankowski.
According to the PGA Tour, Payne also remains a 'regular presence on the PGA Tour as a chaplain'.

Scheffler told reporters ahead of the US PGA:
"Teddy is going home Friday night, coming back Saturday evening after the graduation -- or probably Saturday late night, I'm sure they'll do a little celebration afterward. That's something we talked about from the beginning of our relationship was family always comes first, and it's the same thing for me as it is for my caddie. It was a pretty easy decision. He told me at the beginning of this year that that was the date that it was, so I got a backup caddie lined up. One of my buddies is going to carry the bag on Saturday, and then Ted will be back for Sunday's round."
Scott has been looping for Scheffler since the end of 2021.
Prior to his time on Scheffler's bag, Scott was caddying for another two-time Masters champion in Bubba Watson.
