The PGA of America has invited four more LIV Golf players into next week's US PGA Championship at Valhalla.

In-form South African Dean Burmester, former Masters champion Patrick Reed, Poland's Adrian Meronk and Australia's Lucas Herbert all received invites into the second major of the season this afternoon.

Of the aforementioned players, Burmester has enjoyed the brightest recent spell on the fairways having won back-to-back titles on the DP World Tour at the end of 2023 before going on to land his maiden LIV Golf title in Miami earlier this year to vault to third on the season-long standings.

For Reed, his entry into the 2024 US PGA will mark a 41st consecutive major championship for him.

That is the longest active major streak of any LIV Golf League player.

The quartet join yesterday's invited players Talor Gooch and David Puig in the field.

It means 15 LIV Golf players will now compete in the 2024 US PGA Championship.

That is two more than at The Masters last month.

Reacting to news of a number of invites into the US PGA, LIV CEO Greg Norman said: "The only influence is the success of LIV, our players, our penetration/acceptance and our platform. The players deserve the respect and should have received it from day one."

The one big omission from the invite list would appear to be Louis Oosthuizen, especially after two wins like Burmester on the DP World Tour at the end of 2023, along with a pair of runner-up finishes on the breakaway league this season.

The 2010 Open champion also finished T2 at both the 2017 and 2021 US PGA Championships.

According to golf reporter Bob Harig, it is understood Oosthuizen was 'offered but declined' an invite into the US PGA.
