The Canadian gets off to an awful start by dropping four shots straight off the bat.
Strap yourselves in for an eventful Friday.
Here's a cool little Rory McIlroy stat for you.
Not to put any more pressure on him to land a fifth career major title and his first in nearly 10 years.
The last three times McIlroy has started a major with a bogey-free round, he went on to win the 2011 US Open, 2012 PGA and 2014 Open.
The marquee grouping of the second round - Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele - have just let loose with their tee shots down their first hole of the day at the par-5 10th.
Solid drives all round as they each find the short grass.
Birdie chances await here.
McIlroy starts the day at 5-under par, Schauffele at level par and Scheffler at 1-over par.
A major champion has just unloaded criticism of Pinehurst No.2 as a US Open venue.
