Former Masters champion Fred Couples has revealed he'll sit down and talk with Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley soon to discuss saying goodbye to the major.

At least one past champion will bid farewell to the tradition unlike any other this April.

German legend Bernhard Langer will make his 41st - and final - Masters appearance this year.

Couples, who won the 1992 Masters, told reporters before the Chubb Classic that he may join Langer in saying goodbye.

"I might be there too," Couples said. "I have to sit down with Fred Ridley. I'm 65. I've missed a couple."

Couples became the oldest player to make the cut at the 2023 Masters when he was 63 years old.

He reckons Langer, 67, has the ability to break the record.

"But he'll tell that you everything has got to go really, really well," Couples said.

Couples was playing The Masters hurt in 2024.

He needed several cortisone shots after tweaking his back.

Couples questioned whether it was even wise to tee it up.

"To be honest with you, besides shedding a few tears down the seventh I couldn't even walk," he said. "I broke 80 that day and I played pretty darn well."

As for his own prospects this year, Couples said he believes he can make the cut.

"I really think if I get there and I'm feeling okay I can compete with this cut everyone talks about," he said.

"I can't compete with the Jon Rahms and the Koepkas and Schefflers and Schauffeles and Cantlays, but I can compete with that cut number.

"That for me is a goal."

The 2025 Masters will be played over 10-13 April.

Scottie Scheffler is the reigning champion.
