From the middle of the fairway, the Englishman sends a towering iron into the heart of the green.
The eagle putt was not to be, but it's an easy birdie.

Bryson finds the putting surface with two big hits at the 15th.
His lengthy downhill putt was decent for pace and that's a gimme birdie...

Rory finds the putting surface with his tee shot at the par-3 16th but is well short.
His birdie effort misses high but that's a safe par. He'll have to forget what just happened.
Aberg two-putts for his par and Bhatia gets to level after almost holing his tee shot.

Rory's fifth from the drop zone had a little bit too much heat and he left himself with an awkward downhill putt.
A two-putt sees McIlroy card his first double bogey of the 2025 Masters.

Rory hits a laser towards the 15th green. He tells his golf ball to sit and it obliges for a second before rolling off the back.
Still, he should give himself a decent chance for birdie.

Tommy Fleetwood picks up a much-needed birdie at the 13th after tapping in from three feet.
Rahm has an eagle attempt but will also take a four to move back to 3-over..
The third player in their group, Wyndham Clark, is 1-over.
So, a closing bogey for Justin Rose.
But that's an opening round of 7-under 65.
Rose played the first 17 holes without a bogey but a sloppy tee shot at the last prevented the veteran from tying the course record.
He receives a massive round of applause from the patrons.
Much to smile about for Rosey.

Akshay Bhatia slips to 2-over after failing to two-putt from 55 feet.
McIlroy tidies up from three feet to save his par after leaving his birdie attempt from 20 feet short.

Bryson has played his last few holes in a scruffy manner. At the 11th, he tried to go over the trees to find the green but he missed right.
The reigning U.S. Open champ could only chip to 14 feet but he tidies up well.
And it sparks a huge roar from the patrons...
His tee shot at the famed par-3 12th is long, though, and he's in the trap.
"That won't be too difficult," chimes Sir Nick Faldo on Sky Sports' commentary.
Simply not Jon Rahm's day.
He moves to 3-over after he watches his par putt slide past the cup at the 10th.
Rahm places his hand over his mouth, aghast at what he has just seen...
