Golf reporter left red-faced at TGL media day: "That was bound to happen"

Canadian TV host Ken Reid was left a tad embarrassed after he skulled a wedge shot into a screen at TGL's media day.

Tomorrow Golf League, which is spearheaded by PGA Tour duo Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, will air for the first time on 7 January on ESPN. 

Six teams of four will take part in the interactive league, which is being staged at the purpose-built SoFi Center in Florida.

The tech-infused golf venture was supposed to launch last January, but damage to the arena delayed the project by 12 months. 

Golf reporters were invited to the TGL arena, which seats 1,500 spectators, to interview players and to see what it's all about. 

Reid even got involved, attempting a bunker shot. 

In the short clip, posted by Reid on X, he could be heard saying how he had plenty of green to work with. 

And, well, it went exactly as you would expect. 

You can't see exactly where his shot finished, but the loud clang suggested that it hit a screen near the bleachers. 

Reid's colleague joked his $5,000 expense report from the trip to repair the damage may raise eyebrows with his superiors.

TGL begins on 7 January. 

Woods, who will turn 49 later this month, was the latest player to test out the facility before its launch. 

The 15-time major champion won't be in action until 14 January, though, when his Jupiter Links quartet takes on Los Angeles GC. 

The first fixture will see The Bay, comprising of Min Woo Lee, Ludvig Aberg Aberg and Shane Lowry taking on New York's Xander Schauffele, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler and Cameron Young. 

McIlroy will make his TGL debut on 27 January.
