Paige Spiranac completely disagrees with PGA Tour pro Hunter Mahan that players should be receiving $400,000 each for competing on the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup team.

News broke earlier this week in a report by the Telegraph that American players competing on Keegan Bradley's 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black in New York from 26-28 September will be paid for the first time in the 97-year history of the biennial contest.

As it stands, the DP World Tour will not be paying members on Luke Donald's 2025 European Ryder Cup team.

The likes of both Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry have already said they don't care if they get paid or not as the Ryder Cup means more than money.

McIlroy even went as far to tell BBC Sport he would pay to take part in the Ryder Cup because it means so much to him.

He also concluded none of the 24 players lining up at the 2025 Ryder Cup will even need $400k.

In a recent Golf Monthly interview, six-time PGA Tour winner and three-time U.S. Ryder Cup player Mahan, 42, revealed he agreed with the PGA of America's decision to now compensate players.

"It doesn't need to be lot, I mean, it's not millions of dollars or anything," said Mahan, who no longer has a PGA Tour card.

"I think when your goods and services are being used for someone else's gain, you should be able to sort of recoup some of that money because they're using you, right?"

But Spiranac completely disagrees with that view.

"This is out of touch," tweeted Spiranac.

"It is reported that each US player will receive 400k for participating. That’s life changing money for so many people.

"For Hunter to say it doesn’t have to be a lot when 400k is a lot just isn’t a good look for golf in my opinion.

"The last couple years in golf have been so focused around money but the Ryder Cup was the one event that was about so much more than the money."
