Golf fans are up in arms on social media after learning the huge hike in ticket prices for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York, United States, from 26-28 September 2025.

Pre-sale daily ticket prices have currently been set at a whopping $749.51 from Friday September 26 to Sunday September 28, 2025.

One way to grow the game, we think not...

No Laying Up's Kevin Van Valkenburg chimed in to confirm: 'The Plus tickets ARE the pre-sale tickets. There isn't another option if you want to buy ahead, because as they say demand outstrips supply.'

The prices for the 2025 Ryder Cup are a far cry from the more reasonable £210 ($274) general admission daily ticket prices for the Friday to Sunday at the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone in Rome, Italy.

Luke Donald's European Ryder Cup side won back the Cup by a five-point margin, 16.5-11.5.

Donald has once again been given the reins for 2025, with Keegan Bradley taking over from Zach Johnson for the hosts.

Golf writer Jason Sobel considers the huge hike in Ryder Cup ticket prices for the biennial dust-up could be one solution to combat the expected 'rowdy' crowds in New York.

Sobel tweeted: 'Yes, Ryder Cup tickets are way too expensive. And no, I'm not suggesting it's right. But if you want an answer to the question, 'How do we keep fans from becoming too rowdy?' then I guess, maybe, charging this much will do it. Still doesn't feel like the best solution.'

But as one golf fan pointed out in his response to Sobel, what is another $100 on booze if you are splashing out $750 on a daily ticket?

On the subject of beer sales, one fan tweeted: 'Not opening the alcoholic beverage stalls at 7am might keep the rowdiness down. Many of the recent Ryder Cups on American soil have suffered from over zealous idiots who have no place spectating at the event.'

Former European Tour golfer Tony Johnstone reckons it is inevitable there will be vile abuse from the home fans at the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Golf writer Shane Ryan tweeted: 'In terms of the prices themselves, I do wish there was some law in place not just for the Ryder Cup but for everything up to a Taylor Swift concert, to cap prices at some reasonable limit. But under current rules I can't begrudge the PGA of A for getting what they can, I guess.'

Here's how other fans reacted:

This is the PGA of America I know and love.

At $750 / session, I guess I can't fault Cantlay for wanting some of that.

Pretty sure the entire cost for Pinehurst major for the full week was like $850 for tickets. That's insulting. Way to grow the game.

That is insane! You could watch a whole week at the Open and still have money left over for merchandise.

Oh, it’s a given. This is going to be 90% corporate buyers. Nobody normal is paying $800 for a Ryder cup ticket.

This is a bucket list event for me, I will not be paying those prices.

Good lord. When I went Friday at Whistling Straights it was $219 with fees for a grounds pass.

That’s just NY these days. Get in price for game 3 of the NLCS is $225 for standing room only…. and the Mets may be down 2-0. Prices for any game at MSG are outrageous. Bethpage will be packed, even at $750 a ticket.
