Patrick Cantlay torn to shreds after 'embarrassing' Presidents Cup performance
Patrick Cantlay and two-time major champion Xander Schauffele were battered by Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im on the second day of the 2024 Presidents Cup.
Golf fans tore into Patrick Cantlay after the American golfer and his teammate Xander Schauffele were battered by Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im on day two of the 2024 Presidents Cup.
Matsuyama and Im put the first point on the board for Mike Weir's International side with a remarkable 7&6 victory over the American pairing on Friday morning.
Im and the former Masters champion combined for eight birdies in 12 holes in the foursomes.

Per stats guru Justin Ray on X, it tied for the largest margin of victory in Presidents Cup history.
David Frost beat Kenny Perry 7&6 in 1996.
Adam Scott and K.J. Choi beat Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker by the same margin in a foursomes match in 2011.
The 2024 contest is the 15th edition of the biennial contest.
Cantlay's performance, in particular, didn't sit too well with Team USA fans.
He played on day one alongside Sam Burns.
The duo beat Matsuyama and Corey Conners 2&1 as the USA swept the International side 5-0 in the first session.
But Cantlay was nowhere near his best on Friday.
Just check out some of the reaction:

Incredible result! pic.twitter.com/nd2owaOJoz
If Cantlay & Xander want paid for playing in these things then they should be able to get fined for being 5-down through 8.

International side claw back
Cantlay and Schauffele's defeat was the first of five for Team USA on day two of the 2024 Presidents Cup.
Jim Furyk's men were swept 5-0 in the Friday foursomes.
You can read all about that here.
Despite Cantlay's performance, he has been paired with Sam Burns in the Saturday morning fourballs.
They will be playing Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im.
