Xander Schauffele's caddie makes unsurprising claim after Open heroics
Xander Schauffele's caddie Austin Kaiser is backing the American to become the next golfer to complete the career grand slam.
Xander Schauffele's caddie Austin Kaiser is backing the American to become the next golfer to complete the career grand slam.
Schauffele's father Stefan had no doubt the PGA Tour star would complete the feat next after he triumphed at The Open.
The 30-year-old now only needs to win The Masters and U.S. Open to go down in the history books alongside Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Gene Sarazen.
Kaiser, who reportedly 'wanted to puke' as they reached the 18th at Royal Troon last Sunday with a three-shot lead, agrees that he can do it.
"After he won the PGA, I looked at him and said, 'Let's go for the grand slam in the next three,' Kaiser told The Express.
What did Xander Schauffele's father say?
Stefan Schauffele was visibly emotional as he watched his son lift the claret jug.
He missed Schauffele's PGA Championship victory at Valhalla, having promised to give him space in his pursuit of a first major championship triumph.
Stefan vowed to be there for the next one with the rest of the family and his wife Maya.
He told a group of reporters by the putting green that it was difficult to make the decision to stop being his son's full-time swing coach.
But it was in Xander's best interest, he said.
Xander is now coached by Chris Como, who also works with Bryson DeChambeau and Jason Day.
And he reckons that his son will tick off the slam soon.
