Xander Schauffele has revealed Scottie Scheffler is expected to return to PGA Tour action at The American Express from 16-19 January.

Runaway World No.1 Scheffler, 28, was forced to withdraw from The Sentry in Hawaii this week after a hand injury during Christmas Dinner.

Scheffler sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand on Christmas Day from a piece of broken glass, his agent Blake Smith said last week.

He was preparing dinner for his family when the accident happened.

"It's a huge bummer," Schauffele said in response to Scheffler having to withdraw from the first PGA Tour event of 2025.

"I hope he's okay. I heard he was going to be back for American Express, then you hear he has surgery. I didn't feel, like, too comfortable texting him. It's weird, because we're competitors, but at the same time he's such a nice guy, him and Mere. I just hope he's fine.

"We're a lot better off with him here in Hawaii than not, so hopefully he gets a full recovery and he's fine."

As for Schauffele's own game heading into 2025, the World No.2 admits his golf swing is not quite at 100% at the moment.

"I would say everything I was working on with Chris [Como] last year is still not, you know, it feels like my swing, but it's still something that's a little bit uncomfortable," said Schauffele.

"As long as I'm producing good shots I feel the confidence to keep moving in the right direction, and obviously got a lot of confidence after some results last year. But some of the same stuff, getting the club in certain positions and trying to move the correct way, so a lot of the same, to be honest."

Schauffele also addressed a hot Ryder Cup topic during his first press conference of the new season.
