Strop alert! Shane Lowry with PGA Tour tantrum of the year contender?
Shane Lowry was filmed getting angry during the final round of the PGA Tour's Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches at PGA National.
Sometimes golf clubs need to die, just ask Shane Lowry.
The 2019 Open champion was filmed getting a little bit hot under the collar after he hit a wayward shot during the final round of the Cognizant Classic.
The PGA Tour event was forced into a Monday finish after rain and wind battered PGA National.
Austin Eckroat cruised to his maiden Tour victory on Monday but for Lowry it was a week that could've been.
Lowry clearly has a love-to-hate relationship with PGA National. He loves playing hard courses and embraces difficult conditions.
The Irishman was close to winning this tournament in 2022 but came unstuck on the 72nd hole.
Lowry needed a birdie to force a playoff but a rainy finish saw him end up finishing one behind the champion Sepp Straka.
It left Lowry incandescent with rage and he immediately told reporters the near miss was 'hard to take'.
"Feel like I've got the tournament stolen from me today," he said 12 months ago.
"I played the golf perfectly to win the tournament, and that's this game sometimes and that's this level.
"That was as bad a break [the weather] as I've ever got."
Fast-forward a year and Lowry will be leaving PGA National disappointed once again. And likely more angry.
He was tied for the lead after 36 holes and was searching for his first victory since claiming the 2022 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
In the end, he finished four shots behind Eckroat and endured a frustrating final round.
His frustration boiled over after the Bear Trap claimed another victim.
His tee shot at the par-3 15th found a watery grave and Lowry wasn't pleased. Not one bit.
After seeing where his golf ball landed, Lowry dejectedly threw his iron on the ground and attempted to boot it.
Only he whiffed completely.
One X user wrote: "Who among us hasn't whiffed a kick?"
"Charlie Brown made a whole f---ing career out of it," came the reply.
