Scottie Scheffler overcomes Tom Kim (and protestors!) to win Travelers Championship
Scottie Scheffler continues his dominant season with a playoff victory over Tom Kim at the Travelers Championship.
Scottie Scheffler captured an incredible sixth win in his last 10 PGA Tour starts following a playoff victory over Tom Kim at the Travelers Championship.
Scheffler, who celebrated his 28th birthday earlier this week, closed with a 65 to finish 22-under par alongside his good friend Kim, who birdied the last for a 66.
The win marks the sixth title of the 2024 PGA Tour season for Scheffler and a 12th win overall for him on the circuit.
Scheffler has also now won four of the eight signature events on the PGA Tour in 2024.
The runaway World No.1 pockets a cheque for $3.6m for winning the 2024 Travelers Championship.

Scheffler started the final round one shot behind Kim but he soon pulled level thanks to consecutive birdies on 6 and 7.
A number of other players entered the mix on the back nine including Akshay Bhatia, Tony Finau, Patrick Cantlay, Tom Hoge and Sungjae Im.
But it was Scheffler and Kim that pulled clear of the chasing pack over the closing holes.
Three birdies in a row from the 13th saw Scheffler assume the outright lead by one shot.
Drama was then saved for the par-4 18th.
Scheffler sent a wedge into 20 feet, while Kim fired a beautiful shot under the hole to eight feet.
A number of climate activists then charged onto the 18th green with smoke bombs and they were immediately taken down by security officers.

Just Stop Oil protestors attacked the 18th green at this week’s PGA Tour event just as world number 1 Scottie Scheffler was about to hit a putt to win. These guys have no shame.

After a five-minute pause to deal with the protestors and to clear up the mess on the green, Scheffler came up agonisingly short with his birdie attempt.
Kim then buried his birdie putt into the heart to send the tournament into a playoff.
Tournament officials then decided to cut a new hole for the playoff as a result of the mess made by protestors on the 18th green.
Back down the 18th and both players split the middle of the fairway.
Scheffler sent a wedge into 15 feet.
Kim found the bunker short, and his ball unfortunately plugged.

Kim could only send his third shot to some 40 feet away.
He missed the par putt and Scheffler had the simple task of two-putting for the win.
Scheffler now ties Nick Price (1994) and Tiger Woods (2005, 2009) for six wins in a season.
Woods also owns a seven-win season (2007), eight-win season (1999, 2006) and nine-win season (2000).
Vijay Singh (2004) shares the outright record of nine wins in a PGA Tour season.
