Rory McIlroy made a slam dunk hole-in-one on the par-3 15th at Spyglass Hill during the first round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Thursday.

It marked the second hole-in-one of McIlroy's PGA Tour career and the third of his professional career.

McIlroy, 35, made his first ever ace on the 8th hole at TPC River Highlands during the first round of the 2023 Travelers Championship.

He also made a hole-in-one on the DP World Tour during the 2015 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.

The Northern Irishman's latest ace on the PGA Tour vaulted him into contention during the first round of the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

McIlroy hit a beautiful wedge shot from 119 yards on the par-3 15th (his sixth hole of the round) at Spyglass Hill.

It went straight in the hole on the fly!

The ace moved McIlroy to 3-under par for the tournament at the time.

He went on to post a 6-under 66 to give himself every chance of landing a first individual title at Pebble Beach on Sunday.

That was one shot better than World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, who opened with a 5-under 67 in his first round of the season at Spyglass.

Scheffler is making his first appearance in more than six weeks following hand surgery after a Christmas Day blunder with a glass.

Russell Henley leads the way after the first round on 8-under par.

Shane Lowry also went on to make a hole-in-one in the first round.

Lowry made his ace on the famous short par-3 7th at Pebble Beach.

It moved the Irishman to 6-under par.

Lowry has now made four aces in his professional career.

McIlroy is making his first start of the 2025 PGA Tour season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week.

The iconic AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has not proven a particular favourite event of McIlroy's down the years.

The World No.3 slumped to a T66 at Pebble Beach in 2024, although he did win the Pro-Am event alongside his playing partner Jeff Rhodes.

McIlroy's's best career result at Pebble Beach to date remains a T9 but that came at the 2019 U.S. Open.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is now staged over just two courses in Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill.

A total of 80 professionals compete alongside amateurs on Thursday and Friday at both Pebble and Spyglass.

The pros then then compete on just Pebble Beach over the weekend.

This week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am marks the second Signature Event of the season.

As a result there is a whopping $20m on the line with the winner pocketing a huge $3.6m.
