PGA Tour pro Michael Kim jokingly questioned the timing of a random drug test after he hit a few bombs during the Texas Children's Houston Open.

Kim took to X on April 4 to inform his followers he had been notified to provide a sample.

He wrote: "I hit a couple of long ones last week and guess what's waiting for me? Drug testing."

Kim finished in a tie for 64th the Texas Children's Houston Open. The tournament was won Stephen Jaeger.

Off the tee, Kim averaged a total driving distance of 312.2 yards.

His longest drive was 359 yards at Memorial Park Golf Course.

So far this season, he has averaged 296.8 yards with the chief.

When he first joined the Tour in 2016, he averaged 289.6 yards.

His followers on X saw the funny side of Kim's drug test.

"Sure that wasn't mean for Anthony Kim?" one X user joked in reference to the LIV Golf player.

Another added: "Shouldn't hit those massive bombs."

Does the PGA Tour drug test?

For years the established North American circuit tested golfers' urine only.

In the 2017-2018 season, the Tour announced a revised anti-doping programme whereby players' blood would be tested.

The Tour also updated its list of banned substances to fall in line with the World Anti-Doping Agency.

In a surprise move, the Tour also confirmed they would announce suspensions publicly.

The most recent player to be suspended by the PGA Tour for violating the tour's drug policy was Byeong Hun An.

An was given a three-month suspension in October 2023 for testing positive for a banned substance contained in cough medicine.

Commissioner Jay Monahan previously said: "An tested positive for a substance prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency contained in a cough medicine available over the counter in his native Korea.

"He has cooperated fully with the tour throughout the process and accepted his suspension."
