Tiger Woods has fallen to his lowest-ever world ranking as he recovers from his latest injury setback.

Multiple major champion Tiger Woods has fallen to his lowest-ever world ranking.

The former World No.1 has not played in a professional golf event since last July's Open Championship at Royal Troon.

Woods, now 49, was supposed to begin his PGA Tour season at the Genesis Invitational in February but withdrew following the death of his mother Tida.

There was intense speculation Woods was going to play in the flagship Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass but he decided against it.

In preparation for the first men's major of the year, Woods ruptured his left Achilles and was forced to sit out The Masters at Augusta National.

The layoff has seen Woods now sink to a career-low 1,341 in the Official World Golf Ranking, as first pointed out by Nosferatu on X

During his pomp, Woods spent a record 683 weeks at the summit.

Unsurprisingly, the record has not been beaten. Former LIV commissioner and two-time Open champ Greg Norman came the closest with 331.

Current World No.1 Scottie Scheffler will need to stay at the top for the next 10-and-a-half years if he is to beat Woods' record.

When will Tiger Woods play golf next?

Woods has not revealed when he plans to play golf next.

He will miss the remaining majors at Quail Hollow, Oakmont and Royal Portrush.

It wouldn't be in the least bit surprising to see Woods in the field for December's PNC Championship in Florida.

Woods and his teenage son Charlie have played in the parent/child PGA Tour event for the last five years.

They have finished runner-up twice (2021, 2024).

Team Woods were defeated by Bernhard Langer and his son Justin in the most recent edition of the PNC Championship.

What has Tiger Woods said about his injury?

As expected, not a lot.

His doctor said the surgery in March went well.

In a lighthearted moment amid his recovery, Woods played an April Fool's prank by announcing that he had made an immaculate recovery and was going to play in The Masters.

Six minutes after pressing 'send' on his social media post, Woods added: "P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess."

How many surgeries has Tiger Woods had?

Woods has undergone multiple surgeries over his nearly three-decade career.

He has had six back surgeries as well as numerous operations on his knees, legs and ankles.

The procedure in March 2025 marked the 14th occasion Woods has gone under the knife.
