PGA Tour fans in shock as fight breaks out in crowd at WM Phoenix Open
Punches were thrown in the crowd during the WM Phoenix Open.
PGA Tour fans were left in a state of shock over the weekend at the WM Phoenix Open as a fight broke out among fans during the tournament.
The incident marked one of many manic scenes in the gallery at TPC Scottsdale.
Two-time major champion Zach Johnson was seen raging at a group of spectators behind the ropes, allegedly as a result of comments surrounding his US Ryder Cup captaincy in Rome last September.
Moments later, PGA Tour star Billy Horschel unloaded on a fan who was yelling out as his playing partner was hitting a golf shot.
Former BMW PGA champion Ben An took to Twitter over the weekend to reveal how the third round of the WM Phoenix Open was "out of control".
Numerous videos went viral over the weekend of fans sliding down muddy slopes, while one spectator threw himself into a greenside bunker.
One lady was reportedly left injured on the Stadium Hole par-3 16th.
As a result of that, alcohol sales were immediately halted during the third round.

Canada's Nick Taylor went on to win the tournament after defeating Waste Management ambassador Charley Hoffman on the second extra hole.
Taylor birdied three of the last four holes to force a playoff with Hoffman, before making a further two birdies up the par-4 18th.
He converted from just outside of 10 feet for birdie to seal his fourth career PGA Tour title.
Hoffman had been seeking to become the second-oldest winner of the WM Phoenix Open at the age of 47 years old.
Taylor picked up a cheque for $1.5m and 500 FedEx Cup points as he surges to career-best 28th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
