Ludvig Aberg WDs from $20m PGA Tour event
PGA Tour star Ludvig Aberg has been forced to withdraw before the second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
PGA Tour golfer Ludvig Aberg withdrew from the signature AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Aberg played the first 18 holes of the second signature event of 2025 alongside Rory McIlroy.
He carded an opening round of 5-over 77 at Spyglass Hill to sit dead last on the leaderboard.
The official PGA Tour communications team confirmed on Friday morning that the Swede, 25, decided to withdraw before his second round at Pebble Beach.
Illness was cited as the reason.
It meant that Aberg's amateur playing partner - former PGA Tour official Jimmy Dunne - played the second round with Cypress Point's head professional Casey Reamer.
Dunne helped broker the PGA Tour's framework agreement with Saudi Arabia's PIF. The PIF bankrolls LIV Golf.
He reached out to PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan over a simple WhatsApp message.
But he was reportedly frozen out of peace talks by high-profile players, such as Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth, that were apparently furious the deal was made behind players' backs.
Woods denied this was the case when Dunne quit the board.
Aberg was in the field at last week's Farmers Insurance Open.

He led the tournament after 18 holes but came down with a sickness bug and fell down the leaderboard, ultimately finishing in a tie for 42nd.
Several other players were forced to withdraw before and during the PGA Tour event because of a bug that was going around.
Russell Henley led the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am by one stroke after 18 holes.
McIlroy and Shane Lowry both made hole-in-ones.
The Ulsterman, 35, made a slam dunk ace at Spyglass Hill's par-3 15th whereas Lowry made his at Pebble Beach's famed 7th.
"Mine was better," joked Lowry, who has also made aces at Augusta National and TPC Sawgrass.
