Three weeks after being struck down with illness at the Farmers Insurance Open, PGA Tour superstar Ludvig Aberg got instant own back on Torrey Pines by winning the Genesis Invitational hosted by Tiger Woods.
Aberg, 25, revealed he lost eight pounds with a mystery illness that began halfway through the Farmers Insurance Open, which was also hosted at Torrey Pines last month.
The European Ryder Cup hero fired a 63 at Torrey Pines North in the first round that week but then got sick and posted rounds of 75, 74 and 79 at Torrey Pines South to finish T42.
Fast forward three weeks and a happy and healthy Aberg was standing on the 18th green at Torrey Pines South being presented with his second career PGA Tour title by tournament host and his childhood hero Tiger Woods.
Aberg found himself four shots behind a fast-finishing Maverick McNealy at one stage in the final round.
But the big-hitting Swede soon hauled himself into a tie for the lead with the American when draining three birdies in a row from the 13th.

McNealy could only par the par-5 18th three groups in front and it left the door ajar for Aberg who took full advantage.
Despite missing a golden chance for birdie when burning the right edge from 10 feet at the par-4 17th, Aberg proceeded to two-putt for birdie from 60 feet on the 18th to close out his second PGA Tour title and first since the RSM Classic in November 2023.
Aberg was greeted on the 18th green by his girlfriend Olivia Peet.
"I was telling my caddie coming down 18 this walk was a lot more fun than the last one we had," Aberg told CBS' Amanda Balionis.
"It was awesome, great fight, tough course, but in control of my ball flight all day and was pleased with the way I finished it out.
"This is a very special feeling. Tiger is the GOAT, it's so cool. Everything he's done, I've idolised him my whole life, he means a lot to our game and to win his event is pretty surreal."

Aberg came home in 32 shots for a 6-under 66 to seal a one-shot victory on 12-under par.
The World No.6 collected a whopping first-prize cheque of $4m in the $20m Signature Event.
The victory for Aberg also marks a fourth European win on the PGA Tour in the last five events, something that will no doubt be music to the ears of 2025 European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald.

The 2025 Genesis Invitational was moved from its usual venue Riviera CC to Torrey Pines South as a result of the Los Angeles wildfires.
The Genesis Invitational benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation.
Woods, 49, confirmed during the final round broadcast that the 2025 Genesis Invitational has raised over $8m and that the tournament sponsor is donating every single Genesis car used this week to those affected by the fires.
The 15-time major champion was hoping to play in the Genesis Invitational and make his long-awaited return to the PGA Tour since The 152nd Open at Royal Troon last July.
But Woods' mother Kultida sadly passed away earlier this month and he admitted he needed more time to process her death.
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler threatened to chase down the leaders but his solid final-round 66 saw him up come up three shots shy on 9-under par in T3 alongside Patrick Rodgers.
Tommy Fleetwood, Patrick Cantlay, Tony Finau and Denny McCarthy rounded out the top five on 8-under par.
Rory McIlroy had a weekend to forget with rounds of 74 and 72.
McIlroy was in contention for consecutive Signature Events on the PGA Tour but he ended the week just inside the top 20 on 3-under par.
McIlroy told a heckler to "shut the f*** up" when missing a birdie putt on the 3rd hole.
That was after an unruly PGA Tour fan told him to "blame the caddie".
