Rory McIlroy fires back at heckler's caddie comment during Genesis: 'Shut the f*** up'

Rory McIlroy reportedly fired an f-bomb back at a heckler in the crowd during the final round of the Genesis Invitational at famed Torrey Pines.

The incident, according to golf reporter Dan Rapaport, happened when McIlroy stood over a 10 footer for birdie on the par-3 3rd. 

McIlroy slid his birdie putt past the hole and a golf fan shouted out: 'Blame your caddie!' 

A frustrated McIlroy then apparently turned towards the heckler and said: 'Shut the f*** up'. 

"Rory has got zero time for any Harry Diamond slander," tweeted Rapaport. 

McIlroy's caddie remains his best mate Harry Diamond, who has been on his bag since 2017. 

Despite winning a number of times on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour they have yet to taste major victory together. 

McIlroy has won four major titles down the years but all of them have been alongside caddie JP Fitzgerald. 

The Ulsterman's last major victory dates back to the 2014 US PGA. 

A number of golf fans out there consider McIlroy would be winning more often with a fresh caddie. 

But McIlroy has constantly hit back at such claims, in particular when winning the DP World Tour Championship for a third time in his career in November 2024. 

McIlroy also collected the season-long Race to Dubai for a third consecutive and sixth time in his career that week.

During his victory speech on the 18th green at Jumeirah Golf Estates, McIlroy warned people to back off in their criticism of his caddie. 

"I want to give a shout out to Harry, he's been with me every step of the way for the last seven years now," said McIlroy.

"He gets his fair share of stick and it's not warranted.

"Harry is an amazing caddie and the best friend I could ever ask for, thanks mate."

McIlroy is currently back in the pack in the final round of the Genesis Invitational.
