Korn Ferry pro banned by PGA Tour for six months breaks his silence
Korn Ferry pro Vince India has apologised after he was suspended by the PGA Tour for six months for violating their integrity program by gambling on golf.
Korn Ferry pro Vince India says he's 'deeply ashamed' of his behaviour after he was suspended by the PGA Tour for gambling on golf.
The tour pro was one of two players who were banned by the North American circuit last week for violating the Tour's 'integrity program'.
Jake Staiano was the other golfer and he was banned for three months. India has been banned from competing for six months.
The aforementioned Staiano has already explained his side of the story in the Any Given Monday podcast with Ryan French.
He admitted to place four bets worth $116.20. One of them was a wager for Bryson DeChambeau to make a birdie during the 2021 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The other three were wagers were ones he had placed on DeChambeau's made-for-TV exhibition match in Las Vegas against Brooks Koepka.
Staiano acknowledged what he did was wrong but claimed the appeals process was stacked against him. Read the full story here.
As for India, he did not go into detail about what happened but on the surface it appears his violations were worse.
"I have been truly blessed to be able to pursue a career in professional golf," he wrote in a statement on X.
"It's been an absolute privilege to play this game for a living. To that end, I'm deeply ashamed of my behaviour and poor decisions put my dream in jeopardy. I regret them every day.
"I want to apologise to the Tour for knowingly violating the integrity program. I'm sorry to all my friends, family, coaches, sponsors and anyone who has supported me throughout my career."
He added: "I'm confident I will grow from this. It's an opportunity to tackle the heart of my problems. I'm going to put more hours than ever into my body and mind this off-season, and ultimately come out a better person and player.
"I'm looking forward to 2024 and continuing my goal to play golf at the highest level.
"Lastly, thanks to everyone who reached out to me. You're all wonderful and it means more than you could know."
