Collin Morikawa to his caddie: "I don't know if we're ever going to do that again"

Collin Morikawa has reacted to Scottie Scheffler's latest PGA Tour victory at the 2024 Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.

There were a lot of positives for Collin Morikawa to take away from the 2024 Memorial Tournament.

First and foremost he was right in the thick of it, contending going into the final round of his third straight PGA Tour event.

Unfortunately, a golfer named Scottie Scheffler was standing in his way yet again

NEW: SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER ON COLLIN MORIKAWA - "I DON'T WANT TO INSULT OR ANYTHING, BUT..."

"The guy could be off balance and the ball's right down the middle of the fairway," Morikawa told reporters on Sunday evening after Scheffler claimed his fifth PGA Tour title of the calendar year.

Still, there was something that surprised Morikawa and that was managing to play Muirfield Village's par-3 12th hole in three-under par for the week.

In round one, Morikawa sunk a 26 foot putt for birdie, stuck his TP5 to nine feet in round three and jarred one from 32 feet on Sunday evening to pile pressure on the aforementioned Scheffler.

Across the week, the field managed just 29 birdies, 146 pars and 58 bogeys. There were 15 double bogeys or worse.

"That's ridiculous," Morikawa said of his achievement.

"I looked at my caddie (JJ) today (Sunday) and I was like, I don't know if we're ever going to do that again."

"I feel like I'm always under the radar"

Morikawa will now head to Pinehurst No.2 for the 2024 U.S. Open

Scheffler is unsurprisingly the betting favourite, followed by PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy and Morikawa.

Morikawa said before the final round of the PGA Championship that he felt people weren't rooting for him as much as other guys.

"I could care less," he said

But going into this week's major, he believes that being an under the radar player will be to his benefit.

"Look, I'm not flashy by any means," he said. "[My] golf game doesn't spurt out long drives or crazy putting or whatever.

"But I just kind of find a way to get it done and that's kind of what I stayed true to."
