Collin Morikawa has become the latest big-name PGA Tour pro to withdraw from the Farmers Insurance Open at famed Torrey Pines from 22-25 January.

Morikawa's decision to WD from the Farmers Insurance Open comes 24 hours after World No.2 Xander Schauffele confirmed he was also pulling out of his home San Diego event for the first time in nine years.

Schauffele's team revealed a "medical issue" was the reason for his WD.

Morikawa's team have not yet provided an official reason for his decision to bypass Torrey Pines.

The World No.4 finished solo second in his first start of the PGA Tour season two weeks ago at The Sentry, while Schauffele finished T30.

Both Schauffele and Morikawa have also taken part in the early stages of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's brand new TGL this month.

Schauffele represented New York GC in a heavy 9-2 loss to The Bay GC, while Morikawa competed for Los Angeles GC in their crushing 12-1 victory over Woods' Jupiter Links GC.

But TGL has confirmed Schauffele will not be in action for New York GC when they take on Atlanta Drive GC on Tuesday.

Denmark's Nicolai Hojgaard has also withdrawn his name from the Farmers Insurance Open along with America's Tyler McCumber.

American duo Hayden Springer and Wesley Bryan and South Korea's S.H. Kim have been named as replacements in the field.

The 2025 Farmers Insurance Open is being played from Wednesday to Saturday.

That's as to avoid the final round going up against the NFL's AFC and NFC Championship games.

The event will once again be staged on both North and South Courses at Torrey Pines over the first two rounds.

The last two rounds at the weekend will then be staged on the famous South Course.

European Ryder Cup hero Ludvig Aberg is now the headline name in the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open.

Former World No.1 and two-time Farmers Insurance Open champion Jason Day will also be one of the favourites for the iconic PGA Tour event.

Matthieu Pavon is the defending champion.

Morikawa and Schauffele's absensce from the Farmers Insurance Open marks another big blow for the PGA Tour given runaway World No.1 Scottie Scheffler has yet to play in a single event so far in 2025.

That's because Scheffler hurt his hand on Christmas Day and he then required immediate surgery for it.

Scheffler was expected to return at The American Express this week but he confirmed he was not going to be able to participate on the eve of the event.

The two-time major champion and reigning FedEx Cup champion is expected to make his first PGA Tour start of the season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am from January 30 to February 2.
