PGA Tour star Matthew Fitzpatrick has told a TGL producer to fix 'a subtle issue'.

The 2022 U.S. Open champion made his second appearance in the hi-tech league, fronted by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, on 21 January.

Fitzpatrick and his New York teammates endured their second defeat, losing 4-0 to Atlanta's Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas and Billy Horschel.

The Englishman has enjoyed taking part but he is keen for TGL to fix a problem that Woods and even Kevin Kisner fell victim to.

"The only issue I had was the bunker," Fitzpatrick told reporters.

"But I think it's one of those that's subtle. It felt like a great strike to me."

He was referring to a shot that came up considerably short of the green.

In the moment, Fitzpatrick looked visibly perplexed.

"It obviously went 50 yards or whatever.

"I spoke to Chris; we thought it could have hit a lip maybe in the actual game, so obviously, that was always going to be short.

"But other than that, everything else was really good. But it's hard with the sand, the subtle strikes. You might think it's good, but it's five, ten yards short."

Fitzpatrick's teammate, Rickie Fowler, disagreed with the Englishman.

The PGA Tour fan-favourite claimed he believed all of the equipment was working correctly.

"I felt like the shots that I hit were represented on there," he said.

"I know they’ve made some adjustments as far as moving the parameters for the front tee box back and getting some better readings for wedge shots.

"I didn't see anything on my end that was off."

TGL viewing figures decline

As expected, TV viewing figures dropped in week three.

According to Sports Business Journal, the contest between Atlanta and New York was watched by an average audience of 682,000.

That is down 32 per cent from week two's high of 1.05m.

Clearly, intrigue played a significant part on opening night which drew an average of 919,000 on ESPN.

And needle-mover Tiger Woods attracted eyeballs with his debut.

But the news will be a concern for TGL bosses.

Rory McIlroy makes his debut next week with Boston Common Golf.
