Martin Kaymer makes LIV Golf demand crystal clear

Martin Kaymer has made it perfectly clear what he expects from the next player to join his Cleeks side in the LIV Golf League.

Martin Kaymer has made it abundantly clear what he expects from the next player to join his LIV Golf team.

Kaymer currently has a vacancy in his Cleeks side.

Finnish pro Kalle Samooja joined the quartet for the 2024 campaign but was given the boot this season after a simply woeful season.

Kaymer told reporters in Hong Kong that he's had several requests from players looking to secure a deal.

But according to the German, the golfer joining the Cleeks has to have the 'same philosophy' as his teammates Adrian Meronk and Richard Bland

Kaymer could wait to see who graduates from LIV's Promotions event next month to sign a player.

But he doesn't want to do that, he said.

He said: "There's the option to wait until the promotion event, but, I mean, who knows who’s going to qualify?

"I like the idea that we have a little bit more freedom in order to recruit a player," Kaymer said.

"It gives a bit more freedom, a bit more flow to the whole thing."

Kaymer previously had Graeme McDowell in his side but it was clear the duo never really gelled.

McDowell was left out in the cold but was ultimately given a lifeline by Brooks Koepka

Kaymer continued: "You know, I don't really have a loud team, I don't have an [active] social media team.

"It has to be a person who is similar to how you approach the game of golf.

"And for me, it was always important that we try to shine through good golf and not through something else, and that is what we're looking for."

LIV's 2025 campaign begins next February in Riyadh.

The schedule has not yet been finalised, but the Saudi-backed tour will definitely be heading to Korea, Spain, the U.S. Australia and Singapore.

Last week, LIV boss Greg Norman teased a new tournament in Japan.
