LIV Golf pro issues excuse after being axed by Sergio Garcia
Sergio Garcia's former LIV Golf teammate Eugenio Chacarra has revealed he played at least five events in 2024 injured.
Sergio Garcia's former LIV Golf teammate Eugenio Chacarra has claimed he played the majority of the 2024 season injured.
Chacarra finished 39th in the overall standings which was enough to ensure his spot on the breakaway tour for their third full campaign in 2025.
But Garcia deemed that Chacarra was surplus to requirements in his Fireballs side.
Garcia told GolfMagic last month he's wants 'a different kind of player' in his quartet.
Chacarra told reporters last week in Hong Kong that he's working with his agent to try and find a new team.
He hopes there will be a resolution before he tees it up in the forthcoming Saudi International.
And Chacarra has also opened up on where he feels things went wrong.
He played the first five events of 2024 in pain, he said.
"It was hard for me to compete, which was a downer for me - competing against the best in the world injured is very difficult" he said.
"But after that I have been playing quite solid and everyone out there knows me, and knows I am a solid player and when my putts go in, I go low."
He added: "I think I am a trustful guy and had six good tournaments out of the 13 we play, with five affected by injury.
"But that's golf, it shows how hard the competition is and how hard LIV Golf is when you are playing some of the best players in the world.
"I am grateful it is back to normal; I can now get back in shape and get my game in shape and I'm excited for sure because I love the game of golf and I love to practice and get better and now it is about getting better every day."
Two high-profile players 'begging' to join LIV
Over the weekend a report from SI suggested two high-profile PGA Tour players are looking to negotiate a move to the breakaway in the next few months.
One of the general managers has claimed the duo regret turning down huge offers in the past.

LIV have not yet announced any signings for the 2025 season.
It has also been speculated recently that Dustin Johnson wants to replace either Harold Varner III or Pat Perez with a younger player.
Martin Kaymer has also dropped a hint about the next player that will join his team after Kalle Samooja was relegated.
